Autumn Term Highlights
This year begins with mixed emotions as year 4 are split for the first time from their peers and year 5 is reunited with theirs. Luckily, this year began with a visit from History off the page for a combined year 3, 4, 5 Ancient Greek day.
Our class book was Who Let the Gods Out by Maz Evans.
We investigated city states in Ancient Greece, such as Athens, Corinthia and Sparta.
We also used Digimaps and Atlas's to explore European countries and cities. We used the information we learnt from this to create our own Top Trumps game using categories like highest mountain, longest river, biggest population etc.
We read Greek myths such as Theseus and the Minotaur and then wrote our own myths.
DT was great fun this term. We made Greek pots which we decorated with famous myths, and we had a Greek food tasting day in which we designed and made our own pizza which would appeal to the gods as an offering.
We also showed off our acting skills by presenting our class assembly to the whole school and the year 4/5 parents.
